Luapula Livestock Development Project
This project aims to contribute to poverty reduction and food security in Mwansabombwe by supporting 6000 small-holder farmers, particularly women, in the development of livestock enterprises through the provision of cattle, goats and chickens. The project further seeks to enhance livestock production through implementation of livestock business hub methodology that integrates all activities associated with different livestock product value chains. The key objectives of the livestock business hub are to take advantage of the various government infrastructures such as breeding and livestock service centers and include improving quality, quantity and market access of livestock products, by creating efficient value chains to enhance small-holder competitiveness. This initative serves to formalize, improve and operationalize livestock infrastructure existing in Mwansabombwe, and enable farmers to have direct contact with input suppliers, service providers and buyers of their commodities.
